        Worship Ministry

" Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.......come into his presence with singing."

We certainly try to do just that, even if we are sometimes more noisy than melodious. But we are sure that our Lord appreciates our efforts. Our choir performs a ministry: to beautify the church service and to offer up our voices to "sing praises to the Lord.

Qualifications of a Worship Team Member:
The Worship Team is a leadership type of ministry in the New Testament Church, exists to create an atmosphere for the congregation to worship God through songs & music.  We desire to lead the congregation into deeper worship, bringing God's people to His throne through musical excellence, creativity, and passion.  Above all, we desire for God to be glorified through everything we do as a worship team (Colossians 3:16-17; 1 Corinthian 10:31). Worship is a life lived in response to the Gospel & calling in life, in pursuit of holiness, and in service to God.

So, these are the vital requirements & qualifications for those who have the desire to usher the congregation in worshipping God in spirit and in truth.
  1. Committed Member of this Church – Music ministry is not the right of the talented but the privilege extended to the committed and faithful members of the Church. This ministry requires a strong commitment to the People, leadership and the vison of this church.
  2. Personal Relationship with God: All worship team member’s  must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that he/she should be born again, baptized,  leading a Holy life,   that is consistent and growing through prayer, Bible reading and church fellowship in order to lead & create a Spirit filled worship environment.
  3. Spiritual Maturity, being a Leadership Ministry – As stated, this is a leadership-type ministry and, hence, is ordinarily not a place for new or immature Christians. The team member has to be a mature Christian, knowing that everyone involved in the worship ministry is seen by the congregation as a leader. A Person should be Spiritually, physically & emotionally mature enough to discern & and make right judgment, to lead the congregation into worship & a state of spiritual maturity.
  4. A worship team member should  be a Worshipper:A worship team member should be a worshipper themselves, in order to lead the congregation into worship.  Every member, musicians and singers alike, must have a love for worshipping God as a regular way  of their spiritual lives.  They should be  committed to the growth and development of heartfelt, Spirit-filled worship as a family of believers.
  5. Musical Expertise, to Flow in Holy Spirit: - The musicians and vocalists need to be skilled enough to follow a service which is “led by the Holy Spirit of God.” They should be able to flow with the team and keep up the flow of the Holy Spirit. We don’t want to limit what God will do simply because,  we can’t handle it musically.  Worship team should not be in a position to sing songs, in order to accommodate the musicians. Some people are very gifted musicians and /or vocalists, but for one reason or another,  they have trouble flowing with the team.
  6. Spiritually Ready and Musically Prepared to lead in Worship:Some people may have talent & the desire to lead worship, but they are not spiritually ready to lead worship. These individuals are highly encouraged to share their musical gifts in other levels, in Sunday school & youth Choirs within  the body of Christ, until they attain that benchmark. (1 Corinthians 6:12, 1 Kings 6:7)
  7. Spending personal time with God in worship and prayer away from the platform ministry: We are first and foremost worshippers, and we cannot lead others where we have not gone ourselves. Every musician, singer, and technician must have a love for praise and worshipping the Father.  This includes, but is not limited to Spending time in prayer during the week concerning issues and needs of the church and conducting all aspects of your life according to God’s Word.
  8.  Time commitment:  A member should be available for Practice, Prayer & preparation for Worship, which is mandatory. They must   Recognize that the worship ministry requires a fairly large time commitment and that should be their priority in life. They need to work on  instrumental and / or vocal ability to become the very best.  This means a great deal of individual practice as well as playing with the team. Keep in mind that the team will only be as musically proficient as the individuals that make it up.
  9. Family Support: It is important that the immediate family members are willing to accept the necessary time commitments, give priority and be supportive to the  calling & commitments.

Wages: Satisfaction and joy & reward in God's service.

Hours: Sunday mornings (9:00am-12pm)

Rehearsals: 9.00 am to 10.00 am on Sunday mornings
